About the RoleAs Senior Accounting Manager, you'll lead our day-to-day accounting function and build the scalable, audit-ready foundation Niantic Spatial needs for its next stage of growth. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll own the monthly and year-end close, financial reporting, technical accounting, and accounting operations across our U.S. and international entities.
This is a hands-on role. You'll review journal entries and reconciliations, research complex accounting questions, improve systems and controls, and hold teammates and external providers to clear standards. You'll shorten the close, raise the quality of our reporting, and keep accounting ahead of the business as our revenue streams grow more complex.
What You'll Do- Close & Financial Reporting - Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and consolidation across our U.S. and international entities. Set a disciplined calendar, review journal entries and reconciliations, and drive to a consistent 15-day close. Produce a decision-useful close package: financial statements, balance-sheet schedules, flux analysis, and clear explanations of material movements.
- Revenue Accounting - Own revenue accounting under ASC 606 across enterprise contracts, platform and self-service revenue, and usage-based arrangements. Review nonstandard contracts, document your conclusions, and ensure NetSuite billing and revenue-recognition treatment matches the executed agreement.
- Technical Accounting - Research, document, and operationalize conclusions for complex and new transactions, including internally developed software under ASC 350-40, leases under ASC 842, stock-based compensation under ASC 718, investments, and impairments. Get ahead of these before they create close or audit issues.
- Capitalized Software - Lead the monthly and quarterly capitalized-software process with Product, Engineering, and FP&A: cost attribution, capitalization gates, in-service dates, useful lives, amortization, impairment review, and cash-flow presentation. Run it as a controlled, repeatable process with clean GL tie-outs and audit-ready support.
- Audit & Controls - Lead financial-statement and statutory audit readiness. Coordinate PBC requests and external advisors, keep high-quality workpapers and accounting memos, and strengthen review controls, segregation of duties, and evidence retention.
- International Accounting & Tax - Oversee accounting, intercompany activity, cost-plus arrangements, statutory reporting, and local-provider performance for our international entities, including wind-downs. Keep a reliable compliance calendar and partner with external tax advisors on income, indirect tax, R&D credits, provisions, and filings.
- Systems & Process Improvement - Improve how NetSuite, Numeric, Ramp, and our other finance tools are configured and used. Cut manual work, standardize recurring processes, write clear SOPs, and use automation and AI responsibly to raise both speed and quality.
- Team & Cross-Functional Leadership - Set priorities, review work, and coach the accounting team, and hold outsourced accounting, tax, payroll, and international providers to accurate, timely deliverables. Partner across Legal, People, Business Development, Product, and Engineering so Finance is involved early in material contracts, launches, and transactions.
What You'll Bring- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leading an accounting function or major close workstreams in a high-growth technology company, public accounting firm, or similarly complex setting.
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP, with proven experience across monthly close, consolidations, financial statements, audit support, and technical accounting research and documentation.
- Experience managing external auditors and third-party accounting, tax, payroll, or international providers against clear timelines and quality standards.
- A strong systems orientation, with hands-on experience in a modern ERP. NetSuite experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent judgment and attention to detail: you can tell a material risk from noise and hold quality under a tight deadline.
- Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical accounting matters to executives and non-accounting partners.
- A builder's mindset: you create structure where processes are still forming, document repeatable workflows, and fix the system rather than accept recurring manual workarounds.
- A collaborative, low-ego leadership style, and the willingness to stay close to the detail while developing others.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Active CPA.
Nice to Have- Experience at both a Big Four or national public accounting firm and an operating technology company.
- Experience with SaaS, platform, usage-based, or marketplace revenue models, or with government-contracting accounting and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with Netsuite, Numeric, Ramp, Navan, ADP, Stripe, and multi-entity consolidations.
- Experience using AI and automation to accelerate reconciliations, flux analysis, and documentation while keeping review and controls in place.
