Job Title: Senior Accountant
Overview

Key Responsibilities
- Lead full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial information is delivered to the business.
- Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and financial reports, providing clear insights to operations and management.
- Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations, including bank and other key accounts, ensuring data integrity.
- Prepare and calculate indirect tax filings, including GST, PST, MAT, and other statutory filings as required.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls; identify financial and process risks and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive process improvements, with a focus on automation and efficiency.
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to support financial understanding and collaboration.
- Support external audits, including preparation of working papers, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with year-end tax filings and statutory reporting requirements.
- Analyze large datasets to support variance analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account analysis.
- Perform additional accounting and finance duties as required to support evolving business needs.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role, including reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, journal entries, audit support, and GST/PST filings.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and, where applicable, ASPE.
- Near completion of, or already holding, a professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent such as ACCA, ACA, or US CPA).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and working with large datasets.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications
- Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems.
- Experience in hospitality or retail environments; POS system exposure is an asset.
- Familiarity with Power BI at an end-user level.
- Experience working with Planful or within multi-system environments.
- Industry accounting experience preferred; audit background is an asset for compliance and year-end activities.
- Demonstrated interest in long-term career growth, including progression toward roles such as Assistant Controller.
- Interest in working within a large, complex organization with exposure to multiple industries and brands.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
