Full Job Description
Position Title: Senior Accountant

Reports To: VP, Controller

Division: Shared Services

Department: Finance

Classification: Exempt

Places of Work: Hybrid

About the Role:

The Senior Accountant is primarily responsible for corporate accounting operations, including but not limited to treasury, tax, accounts receivable, audit, and month-end close related responsibilities. This role is primarily remote; however, candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to our headquarters to support occasional onsite collaboration and team activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare support and enter general journal entries; participate in the monthly close process including variance reporting
  • Collaborate with business leaders and management on a variety of accounting centric projects
  • Participate with Accounting, Finance, and Analytics on understanding and organizing information
  • Proactively interact with other functions and personnel as part of the Equality Health Team
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations and timely research and correct reconciliation variances
  • Produce customer billing statements; track accounts receivable; ensure cash receipts are applied to the correct account
  • Create detailed standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that account data are complete and accurate
  • Support financial statement audits through preparing and providing audit requests
  • Identify and implement process improvements in areas of ownership or as work is completed cross functionally with team members
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned
  • May be required to work overtime or outside of traditional business hours


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Minimum seven (5) years of work experience in a directly related position in a corporate accounting setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and web-based technologies
  • Proven ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information, especially in the areas of payroll and financial data
  • Demonstrated experience and success in a role that requires accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions and devise appropriate courses of action
  • Able to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand and understand and interpret complex information from others
  • Naturally curious and enjoys process improvements


Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience or health plan exposure
  • Public accounting experience and/or CPA
  • Experience working in a multi entity, multi state environment
  • Successful record of managing multiple projects with demonstrated ability to work independently in rapidly-changing environments
  • Be flexible, adaptive and have fun
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; able to work with all levels in the organization
