Job Description Summary

The Senior Accountant is a key contributor within the U.S. Accounting Team, responsible for executing core Record to Report (R2R) accounting activities for both commercial and R&D. This role ensures high quality, timely, and technically accurate financial reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Galderma's Accounting Manual (GAM). The Senior Accountant maintains the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of assigned Balance Sheet accounts and supports the preparation of financial information used in internal and external reporting. This individual partners closely with Global Business Services (GBS) and cross functional teams to ensure compliant execution of accounting processes and contributes to global initiatives that impact the U.S. operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities and reporting processes in alignment with the global accounting calendar and close schedule.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial reporting with a focus on Balance Sheet accounts, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
  • For assigned areas, ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of all submitted financial data, in compliance with IFRS, Galderma's Accounting Manual (GAM), and statutory requirements. Confirm proper classification of financial reporting lines for both IFRS (FCCS) and core performance (PBCS) books.
  • Research and apply IFRS accounting guidance for issues related to assigned areas, ensuring alignment with GAM and corporate policies.
  • Prepare high quality documentation for assigned areas, including manual journal entry support and Balance Sheet account reconciliations.
  • Assist the Associate Director of Accounting & Reporting with Balance Sheet reviews and perform analytical reviews of account fluctuations to validate accuracy, completeness and integrity of financial results.
  • Use reporting tools and system data to identify discrepancies, investigate root causes, and validate appropriate accounting treatment across relevant ledgers in accordance with IFRS and GAM.
  • Partner closely with GBS to ensure timely and accurate review of journal entries, reconciliations and supporting documentation for assigned areas.
  • Support global/local finance projects, ERP enhancements, process improvements, and accounting policy implementations impacting the U.S. operation.
  • Prepare and submit all Government surveys on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring accuracy and timely management review.


Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's or CPA is a plus)
  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within pharmaceutical, consumer goods, or similarly complex, public company multinational environments.
  • Big 4 or public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and U.S. GAAP, with the ability to research and apply accounting guidance to moderately complex transactions
  • Experience with Global Business Services (GBS) or Shared Services operating models is a plus
  • Strong ERP system knowledge (Oracle) and advanced Excel skills
  • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a consistent track record of delivering accurate work under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process gaps and contribute to process improvement initiatives, including proposing practical, scalable solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions in a multicultural, matrixed organization
