Full Job Description
Summary
The Senior Accountant supports Trident Maritime Systems over all accounting and shared service financial functions for our North American locations. Primary responsibilities include overseeing month-end close, monthly reporting, preparation and review of specified balance sheet reconciliations, and support of year-end audit. This role will assist staff on the team and other corporate stakeholders as well as stakeholders in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Reconciliations - Develop and maintain reconciliations for key accounts, including but not limited to benefits, payroll, intercompany, goodwill and intangibles. Identify variances and resolve with key partners in a timely manner.
  • Monthly journal entries - Prepare and post (after review) monthly journal entries assigned. Review monthly journal entries of accounting staff in accordance with close timelines.
  • Support Implementation of New Accounting Standards, when applicable - Assist Director of Financial Reporting with analyzing and reviewing new accounting standards and application to our business. Help with guidance communication to impacted team members and preparation of standard operating procedures.
  • Cost Control and Analysis - Review corporate cost centers, assisting FP&A with budget to actual analysis. Be a resource to budget owners in the corporate office to discuss variances and work through corrective actions as needed.
  • Reporting - Assist Director of Financial Reporting with monthly financial reporting and applicable schedules with tie-outs, as well as selected financial statement footnotes for our year-end audited financials.
  • Continuous Process Improvement - Identify areas to streamline or update our processes to automate the routine and focus the team on key value-add support.
  • Compliance and Documentation - Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with operational accounting teams in the field, accounts payable, supply chain, and finance teams to support business needs.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; Master's degree or certifications such as CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data interpretation. Ability to interpret financial data, schedules, and technical information.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial management systems. Preferred experience with ERP systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced.
