Full Job Description
Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the company's financial records and supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. This position performs complex accounting activities, prepares financial analyses, reconciles accounts, assists with audits, and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The Senior Accountant serves as a key member of the accounting team and supports process improvements and special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting
  • Prepare and record journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
  • Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.


Audit and Compliance
  • Assist with external financial audits and internal audits.
  • Prepare audit schedules and support documentation.
  • Support tax filings and compliance reporting as required.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal controls and accounting procedures.


Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Oversight
  • Review and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable activity.
  • Monitor aging reports and assist with collection efforts when necessary.
  • Ensure proper coding and approval of expenditures.
  • Process deductions


Ideal Candidate Profile:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA designation preferred but not required.


Experience
  • 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Manufacturing, food manufacturing, or consumer products experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and account reconciliations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
