Cherry Bekaert Recruiting is seeking a
Senior Accountant / Property Accountant to support the accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. This role will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, managing month-end close activities, reconciling bank accounts, overseeing cash management functions, and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong property accounting experience and familiarity with leading real estate accounting systems such as
MRI and
Yardi.
Key Responsibilities- Manage accounting activities for assigned commercial real estate properties.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
- Complete bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor and manage cash activity and cash balances.
- Review and process invoice approvals.
- Ensure accuracy of accounts payable and related property expenses.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support internal and external audit requests.
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
- Experience with bank reconciliations and cash management.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience in the real estate or property management industry a plus.
- Experience with MRI and/or Yardi.
- Commercial property accounting experience.
- Experience handling invoice approvals and property-related expenditures.
