Senior Accountant / Project Accountant
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Full-Time (40 hours/week) | Exempt
Annual Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
Reports to: Treasurer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Accountant /Project Accountant to join our Anchorage office as the fourth member of our accounting team.

Reporting directly to the Treasurer, this position plays an important role in maintaining the financial health of the company. The Senior Accountant / Project Accountant is responsible for providing accurate financial reporting, maintaining the integrity of accounting records, supporting project accounting, processing payroll, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and contributing to efficient financial operations across the organization.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leadership, influence process improvements, and make a meaningful contribution to the continued success of CRW.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payroll and prepare necessary payroll reports and reconciliations.
  • Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
  • Project set-up, maintenance, and budget modifications.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger.
  • Serve as Accounts Payable backup for trade and subconsultant invoice coding, setting up new vendors, and ensuring payments are applied to the appropriate client.
  • Serve as Accounts Receivable backup for posting cash receipts and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Generate monthly Accounts Receivable invoices.
  • Reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger accounts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards monthly, verify deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections.
  • Maintain proper documentation required to perform annual audit functions.
  • File required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Verify third-party filing of tax forms and associated payments per required federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Proof accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
  • As appropriate, coordinate with the software vendor to maintain the accounting software system; recommend updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Payroll experience, including knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience using accounting software


Preferred

  • Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint
  • Experience in project-based accounting, professional services, engineering, or consulting environments
  • Experience improving accounting systems and business processes
  • Experience in mentoring or training staff
  • CPA is a plus; strong background as a working accountant is the primary consideration


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain seated while working at a computer for extended periods
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds
