Full Job Description
Role Overview

The Senior Accountant is a key contributor to the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the company's financial reporting and close processes. This role is designed for an experienced accounting professional with strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

The Senior Accountant will support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities; prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations; perform detailed balance sheet and P&L analyses; and partner cross-functionally to ensure high-quality financial reporting. While the role includes responsibility for certain payroll- and compensation-related accounting areas, the primary focus is on overall senior-level accounting execution, judgment, and audit readiness rather than transactional payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Close & General Accounting
  • Support the timely and accurate completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Ensure accurate accounting for expenses, accruals, reserves, and other balance sheet and income statement items
  • Perform account reviews to ensure balances are complete, accurate, and properly supported
Reconciliations & Financial Analysis
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items and aged balances
  • Perform monthly flux, variance, and trend analyses and clearly communicate key drivers to management
  • Identify anomalies, risks, and opportunities for improved accuracy or efficiency in financial reporting
Payroll & Compensation Accounting Support
  • Oversee accounting for payroll, bonuses, commissions, benefits, and equity-based compensation in coordination with Payroll, HR, and Total Rewards
  • Review payroll reports and ensure proper recording in the general ledger
  • Support payroll-related accruals and reconciliations as part of the broader close process
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Payroll, HR, Tax, FP&A, and other Finance teams to ensure appropriate accounting treatment and data alignment
  • Coordinate with onshore and offshore accounting teams to resolve open items and maintain consistent accounting practices
  • Participate in system enhancements, process improvements, and new initiatives from an accounting standpoint
Compliance, Controls & Audits
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX requirements, and internal accounting policies
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and assist in remediation where needed
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and documentation
Technical Accounting & Projects
  • Research accounting guidance and support the application of technical accounting conclusions
  • Assist with complex or non-routine transactions, including compensation arrangements and other special projects
  • Drive or support continuous improvement initiatives with increasing ownership and minimal supervision

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial close processes
  • Hands-on experience with journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and audit support
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred
  • Public accounting experience (Big 4 or national/regional firm) highly preferred
  • Experience in a large corporate, shared services, or complex environment
  • Exposure to payroll, compensation, or benefits accounting
  • Experience working with ERP systems and modern financial tools (e.g., Workday, SAP, NetSuite)
  • Experience collaborating with offshore or global accounting teams
