Senior Accountant

Manufacturing | Government Contract Accounting

On-site in Chandler, AZ

Target salary range: $73,100- $135,700

We are hiring a Senior Accountant to support a growing manufacturing and government contracting environment with responsibility for month-end close, complex balance sheet reconciliations, project and cost accounting, financial reporting, and accounting process improvement. This role requires strong GAAP accounting, advanced Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, journal entries, account reconciliations, debit/credit analysis, and project or cost accounting experience, with exposure to government contract accounting, FAR/CAS, DCAA, and Oracle Fusion considered valuable.

This hands-on technical accounting role will investigate complex and historical transactions, resolve reconciliation issues at the root cause, support accurate financial reporting, and identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes.

Responsibilities:
  • Own month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and research historical or long-standing reconciling items to identify and resolve root causes.
  • Apply debit/credit accounting principles and T-account methodology to analyze and resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Support project accounting, cost accounting, capital expenditures, and financial reporting activities.
  • Partner with Operations and cross-functional teams to improve accounting accuracy, controls, and standardized accounting processes.
  • Support SOX compliance, financial audits, and government contract accounting activities as required.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, standardize, and streamline manual accounting and reporting processes.
  • Use advanced Microsoft Excel and enterprise ERP systems to analyze financial data and improve reporting.


Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience in a complex manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.
  • Demonstrated mastery of accounting fundamentals, including debit/credit logic and T-account analysis.
  • Experience with project accounting and/or cost accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, or equivalent analytical functions.
  • Experience with enterprise ERP systems such as Oracle Fusion, SAP, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS), JD Edwards, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification.
  • Government contract accounting experience, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and/or Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) requirements.
  • Inventory accounting experience.
  • Oracle Fusion experience.
