Full Job Description
The Opportunity

This Senior Accountant is one of our first accounting hires and will be the right hand to Montera's Controller.

This is a hands on builder role. The right candidate is energized by being in the details, has lived in CIP and capitalization in capital intensive development environments, and wants to build rather than maintain. As Montera scales, this role is expected to evolve, with a clear path to grow into a team lead as accounting headcount expands.
What You'll Do

Close Calendar and Month End Close
• Build and own Montera's close calendar: month end, quarter end, and year end deadlines are clear, predictable, and consistently met.
• Prepare journal entries, lead reconciliations, and perform variance analysis to produce timely, audit ready financials.

Treasury and Cash Operations
• Rebuild core treasury processes, including bank account structure, cash positioning, and funding draw coordination with project teams.
• Prepare cash reconciliations across operating and restricted accounts and bring discipline to a function that currently lacks it.
• Partner with development and construction teams to track project level funding and disbursements.

ERP Implementation
• Serve as a core accounting contributor on Montera's forthcoming ERP implementation, from requirements gathering through data migration, testing, and go live.
• Use the implementation as an opportunity to redesign and automate manual processes, not just replicate them in a new system.

Financial Reporting and Communication
• Prepare monthly reporting packages and financial statements that are ready for leadership, investor, and board level review.
• Maintain a consistent, proactive communication rhythm with the Controller and CFO. No surprises: issues get flagged early, with options attached.
• Support internal and external reporting deliverables for auditors, lenders, and investors.

Operational Accounting (PTP, OTC, and Cash)
• Own procure to pay and order to cash processes, including vendor bill processing, pay runs, customer invoicing, collections, and cash applications.

Capitalization, Project Accounting, and Technical Accounting
• Support capitalization of development and construction costs, maintain construction in progress schedules, and validate asset classifications.
• Draft accounting policies and technical memos, including capitalization policy, lease accounting (ASC 842), and revenue recognition, aligned to data center development and operating models.

Requirements

What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA and 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including time in capital intensive industries. Comfortable operating as a hands on individual contributor.
• Strong technical accounting expertise: U.S. GAAP and financial reporting, project accounting and CIP, capitalization policy and lease structures (ASC 842), and audit ready financial statement preparation.
• Experience preparing journal entries, leading month end close, and performing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience with operational accounting (PTP, OTC, and cash), including direct exposure to treasury or cash management.
• Prior involvement in an ERP implementation or systems conversion is strongly preferred.
• Clear, proactive written and verbal communication. This role reports to leadership regularly and needs to be trusted to flag issues before they become problems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in an environment without established process, and to build that process rather than wait for it.
• High attention to detail combined with strong judgment, balancing rigor, speed, and practicality.

Benefits

Our Benefits at a Glance:
  • Comprehensive Health Coverage: We pay 90% of health premiums for employees and their dependents.
  • Generous Time Off: Up to 8 weeks of paid time off per year, including holidays, PTO, and sick time.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) plan with immediate eligibility, no vesting requirement, and employer match contributions up to 6%.
  • Recognition & Rewards: Annual bonus program to share in our success.
  • Extra Support: Remote work stipend plus phone allowance to help you stay connected.
