About the RoleReporting to the Director, Tax, the Senior Accountant / Manager, Tax will support BEP Corporate tax reporting, compliance, tax risk management, and related advisory matters. The role will work closely with Tax, Finance, Legal, portfolio company teams, and external advisors to support Canadian and global tax initiatives across Brookfield Renewable.
Key Responsibilities- Support the quarterly BEP tax provision process, including global consolidation, review, analysis, and reporting to internal stakeholders;
- Assist with the coordination of BEP Corporate tax compliance matters with external advisors, including country-by-country reporting, CDS reporting, CRA audit queries, and Canadian transfer pricing documentation;
- Support portfolio company teams on Canadian tax risks and reporting requirements, including T1134 reporting, surplus computations, excluded property analysis, EIFEL compliance, and Pillar Two readiness;
- Assist with indirect tax matters for BEP Corporate entities;
- Work with internal and external teams to support timely execution, documentation, and reporting of tax matters and transactions;
- Contribute to improvements in tax processes, controls, reporting procedures, and automation opportunities;
- Monitor Canadian and international tax legislative developments and help assess potential impacts to Brookfield Renewable;
- Support the Director, Tax on advisory matters, transactions, process improvement initiatives, and special projects as required.
Knowledge and Experience Required- CPA/CA designation; completion of, or progress toward, the In-depth Tax Program or a Masters of Taxation is considered an asset;
- 2-5 years of progressive Canadian tax experience, including experience at a national public accounting firm and/or relevant industry experience;
- Strong working knowledge of tax accounting and related financial reporting requirements;
- Experience with Canadian tax compliance and exposure to international tax reporting, foreign affiliate reporting, surplus computations, transfer pricing, EIFEL, and Pillar Two is considered an asset;
- Experience working with external advisors and responding to CRA or other government authority requests is considered an asset;
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain tax concepts clearly to internal stakeholders;
- Proactive, collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning and professional development.
