Dwight-Englewood School seeks a Senior Accountant for immediate hire. Primary responsibility for this team member is general accounting, analysis, reconciliations and internal year end audit work.
- Perform full general accounting functions, including recording monthly, quarterly, and year-end journal entries.
- Reconcile various accounts and subledgers to the general ledger on a monthly and annual basis.
- Record deferrals, accruals, prepaid expenses, amortization, capital expenditures, fixed assets, depreciation, payroll, and investment-related entries.
- Monthly review of trial balances, analysis of accounts, budget to actual results and related variances.
- Maintain accurate supporting schedules and workpapers using Excel.
- Prepare year-end audit materials, including account reconciliations and related work papers.
- Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist, Accounts Receivable Coordinator, and Accounts Payable Coordinator to ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
- Provide general accounting and business office support to the Controller and CFO.
- Perform other accounting functions as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years of experience in general accounting using a computerized accounting platform.
- Experience in a nonprofit fund-accounting environment is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, prepaid expenses, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, account reconciliations, and the monthly closing process.
- Experience using accounting software to record general ledger transactions is required.
- Knowledge of Blackbaud FE NXT general ledger is strongly preferred but not required.
- Understanding of payroll processing and ADP is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills, including experience using Excel and creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets.
- Knowledge of Gemini-Pro, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and OneDrive a plus.
- Superb attention to detail and strong quantitative, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
- Strong work ethics, professionalism, and a desire to contribute as part of a collaborative team are required.
- Customer-service oriented, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- This is a full-time, leave replacement on-site for the 26-27 academic year.
- Salary range $80k-$95K depending on experience and qualifications.
