Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Sr. Director, Controller
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Baltimore, MD (Oriole Park at Camden Yards)

Position Summary:

The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting the month-end close process, and providing financial reporting and analysis that informs strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong analytical skills and a passion for excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the ballpark event accounting and reporting
  • Involvement with the partnerships invoicing and accounts receivable aging
  • Prepare entries for debt accounting and recording on interest and other related charges
  • Ensure proper accounting of intercompany expenses
  • Prepare fixed assets, depreciation schedules, and prepaid/amortization schedules
  • Lead and participate in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation with the goal of getting to a 10-day close
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and organizational policies
  • Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and responding to inquiries
  • Apply strong knowledge of debits and credits to support accurate and compliant financial statements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate across departments to gather financial data and provide guidance as needed
  • Assist with special projects, ad-hoc reporting, and financial modeling as needed


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
  • CPA certification
  • Minimum 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel (advanced level)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • High degree of integrity and confidentiality


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in professional sports, entertainment, or hospitality industries
  • Familiarity with MLB financial policies, revenue sharing, and league reporting requirements
  • Spanish language proficiency (written and spoken)
  • Excellent understanding of finance principles and comfortable with making assumptions and projections to support sourcing decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and records.


Work Environment:
  • This position is based on site in Baltimore, MD
  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required during the season or fiscal deadlines
