Responsibilities

Full Job Description
We're Looking For A(n): Senior Accountant

Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA and/or Burbank/North Hollywood, CA)

What You'll Be Doing: Hands-on Senior Accountant responsible for supporting the general ledger close and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the balance sheet across key technical accounting areas including payroll, fixed assets, lease accounting, and debt. This role works closely with the Accounting Manager and broader finance team to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in a fast-growing CPG environment. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with a strong foundation in GAAP accounting across complex GL areas and the rigor and process discipline consistent with public company or external reporting standards.

General Accounting & Close
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations across assigned GL areas; support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process.
  • Perform flux and variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts; document and escalate unusual items.
  • Prepare audit-ready workpapers and supporting schedules for external auditors and financial reporting support.
  • Assist in maintaining internal control documentation and evidence for assigned process areas.

Payroll Accounting
  • Record payroll journal entries, accruals, and related liability accounts in coordination with HR and third-party payroll providers.
  • Reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts including accrued compensation, benefits, and employer tax liabilities.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll variances and support payroll-related audit inquiries.

Fixed Assets
  • Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger; record additions, disposals, transfers, and monthly depreciation in accordance with ASC 360 and company capitalization policy.
  • Prepare monthly fixed asset roll forward schedules and reconcile to the general ledger.
  • Support periodic physical fixed assets register counts and assist in preparing fixed asset disclosures for external reporting.

Lease Accounting (ASC 842)
  • Support the lease accounting process including preparation of ROU asset and lease liability journal entries, amortization schedules, and remeasurement entries for modifications.
  • Maintain lease schedules and ensure the lease portfolio is complete and accurately reflected in the general ledger.
  • Prepare lease disclosure schedules supporting external financial reporting and respond to auditor requests.

Loans & Debt Accounting
  • Prepare journal entries for term loans, revolving credit facilities, and other debt instruments; maintain debt amortization schedules including debt issuance costs.
  • Reconcile interest expense accruals and ensure accurate current vs. long-term classification of debt on the balance sheet.
  • Support preparation of debt-related disclosures and covenant compliance schedules.

Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to streamline close processes, improve reconciliation templates, and strengthen controls across assigned areas.
  • Partner with the Accounting Manager to document and update standard operating procedures as the business evolves.

The base salary range is $84,000-$105,000, plus bonus potential.
