Responsibilities

  • Manage preparation of monthly and annual financial statements under US GAAP
  • Assist with the preparation of audited financial statements according to US GAAP and IFRS
  • Support the preparation of Combined Financial Statements when needed
  • Conduct annual property audits and coordinate with external auditors
  • Prepare the annual Management Company budget and manage ongoing budget activities

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization's financial reporting. Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, this role supports key financial initiatives by leading monthly financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow analysis for the Management Company, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and IFRS standards.

This position is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, partnering closely with internal accounting teams, cross-functional departments, and external auditors to deliver high-quality financial statements and audit support. The Senior Accountant also contributes to broader organizational reporting through the preparation of annual and quarterly combined financial statements and participation in process improvement initiatives.

At its core, this role supports informed decision-making and financial transparency by delivering accurate reporting, strengthening internal controls, and continuously enhancing financial processes in alignment with Morgan Properties' standards and values.

Essential Duties

Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Manage the preparation and completion of monthly and annual Management Company financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Assist with the preparation of individual audited financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Support the preparation of annual and quarterly Combined Financial Statements of Morgan Properties, based on availability.
  • Assist with annual property and portfolio audits, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of required deliverables.


Budgeting, Cash Flow & Analysis
  • Prepare the annual Management Company budget and support ongoing budget management activities.
  • Perform budget-to-actual variance analyses and collaborate with departments as needed to review results.
  • Conduct monthly cash flow analysis and develop projections to assess future cash needs.
  • Prepare and review ad hoc financial analyses and account reconciliations as required.


Controls, Processes & Continuous Improvement
  • Review, implement, and support key internal controls to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
  • Participate in special projects, including evaluating existing processes and recommending improvements and best practices.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual partnership reporting as needed.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
  • Work closely with accountants and cross-functional internal teams to support reporting accuracy and operational alignment.
  • Serve as a key contributor during audits and reporting cycles by responding to inquiries and providing timely documentation.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university required.
  • 4-5 years of experience in public accounting, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience, with a strong background in preparing financial statements.
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proven experience managing multiple priorities while meeting reporting deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and deliver accurate work.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • CPA preferred, but not required.


Tools & Systems:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; experience with Yardi accounting software preferred but not required.

Salary range: $85,000-$90,000/yr

If you are hired at Morgan Properties, your overall compensation package will also be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range
