SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant serves in a key support role within the Accounting and Finance Department, assisting the CFO and accounting team with financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis of accounts, compliance activities, process documentation, and special projects.
The role is highly collaborative and hands-on, focusing on supporting existing accounting operations and maintaining institutional knowledge across essential financial functions. The position requires strong accounting knowledge and analytical ability.
Under the direction of the CFO, the Senior Accountant assists with month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, financial analysis, and documentation of accounting procedures and controls.
This role is best suited for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys process support, cross-functional coordination, analytical work, and operational stability within an established accounting structure.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares or reviews journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial schedules in accordance with company policies.
• Analyzes general ledger activity to identify discrepancies, trends, and accounting issues, as well as evaluating accounting treatment for new types of transactions.
• Supports monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes through preparation or review, and analysis of financial data.
• Assists in the preparation and administration of contract management and compliance documentation.
• Supports any external audits, internal audits, and regulatory examinations through preparation of schedules, supporting documentation, and response coordination
• Prepares or reviews, and files monthly and quarterly sales tax returns for all applicable states and jurisdictions utilizing Vertex Sales Tax Compliance reports.
• Assists in execution of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Assists in the analysis of accounting transactions involving accruals, reserves, revenue recognition, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and related financial activities.
• Participates in accounting system implementations and upgrades, including those in support of the company Duty Drawback Program and related reporting requirements.
• Maintains confidentiality of financial information and ensures compliance with company policies and ethical standards.
• Supports assigned accounting projects and process improvement initiatives under the guidance of Finance leadership.
• Keeps current with changes in accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Performs other professional accounting duties consistent with the nature of this position as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
• Strong knowledge of:
- Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- General ledger accounting and financial reporting
- Account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Internal controls and audit support
• Working knowledge of:
- ERP and accounting systems
- Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Sales tax compliance systems and reporting tools
• Demonstrates ability to analyze financial information and apply accounting standards appropriately.

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and process documentation preferred.
• Experience supporting month-end close, audits, compliance activities, and financial reporting processes preferred.
• Strong operational accounting background with demonstrated attention to detail and process consistency.

SALARY:
$85,000 - $95,000 Annually Depending on Experience
