About the RoleThis is a senior individual contributor role on the general ledger team. You'll own major close workstreams end-to-end, draft accounting policies, and work closely with the Accounting Manager and Financial Systems Engineer to shape how Base's books get built.
The role grows with the business - more entities, more complexity, more scope.
What You'll Do- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across the GL - own assigned workstreams from data pull to flux explanation
- Run assigned areas of the monthly close end-to-end - set the schedule for your areas, hit it, and document what you did
- Contribute to the accounting policies and SOPs the team operates against - write down what works so the next person inherits a system
- Partner with the Accounting Manager and Financial Systems Engineer on close automation, ERP improvements, and AI-assisted reconciliation
- Support audit and technical accounting work - pull the support, walk the auditor through it, and translate the GAAP into plain language for non-finance stakeholders
What You'll Bring- 3-7 years of accounting experience at a high-growth company, top public accounting firm or equivalent
- Strong GAAP fluency and the disposition to dig in on a technical question rather than route it up
- Extreme attention to detail with a high regard for precision
- Familiarity with NetSuite or comparable ERP; comfort with spreadsheets and openness to AI tooling that takes repetitive work out of the close
- Comfort working independently on assigned areas and wanting more scope as Base scales; CPA or progress toward it a plus
About The TeamThe Base finance & business operations team is responsible for providing clear visibility on past and future performance across the business, financing our growth, capital allocation decisions, and supporting the broader Base team on key performance drivers. To succeed, Base must raise and deploy tens of billions of dollars, maintain sustainable unit economics, exercise extreme operating leverage, and balance supply/demand and growth/profitability in a complex and high-pace environment. The Finance team enables these by (i) building toward omniscience with sharp analytics and tools for observability, (ii) integrating with the business to support operational decisions, (iii) establishing tight controls and processes to cull complexity, and (iv) presenting Base to investors effectively.
Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
