Job Title: Senior AccountantJob DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment to join our team. This role involves leading full-cycle accounting responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely results, preparing financial statements, managing balance sheet reconciliations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements.
Responsibilities- Lead full cycle accounting responsibilities ensuring accurate and timely results are provided to the business.
- Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and collaborate with operations management on accounting issues.
- Responsible for complex balance sheet reconciliations.
- Prepare and calculate regular tax filings (GST, PST, MAT, etc.).
- Maintain effective internal controls, identify risks, and propose recommendations for required control changes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, prioritizing automation where possible.
- Build great working relationships with the business to promote synergies.
- Support the annual external financial statement audits and tax filing requirements.
- Perform other accounting duties as required.
Essential Skills- 3+ years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role with a strong working knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency in balance and bank sheet reconciliations, month-end and year-end close, working papers, journal entries, audit support, GST/PST filings.
- Close to designation (Written CFE) or CPA designated (or equivalent ACCA, ACA, US CPA).
- Strong communication skills for interacting with multiple departments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in large data analysis and Excel (pivots, VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, and working with large datasets).
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience with MS Dynamics 365 or similar ERP systems.
- Experience in hospitality or retail environments (POS exposure is an asset).
- Familiarity with Power BI (end-user level).
- Experience with Planful or working in multi-system environments.
- Background in industry accounting is preferred over pure audit Background, though audit exposure is still valuable for year-end understanding.
