Job Title: Sr AccountantJob DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Accountant to join our team. This role involves managing key aspects of the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, and providing guidance on complex accounting matters.
Responsibilities- Manage and execute key aspects of the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
- Prepare and review complex journal entries, general ledger roll-forwards, account reconciliations, and variance analyses, maintaining appropriate documentation and internal controls.
- Research technical accounting matters and provide guidance on the appropriate application of U.S. GAAP to new, complex, or evolving business transactions.
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting activities related to aviation fuel inventory, including valuation, reserves, reconciliations, and related controls.
- Perform detailed gross profit analyses, investigate variances, and drive root-cause resolution related to inventory movements, pricing, master data, and operational activity.
- Partner closely with Operations, Supply, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams to provide practical accounting guidance and support business decision-making.
- Lead process improvement, automation, and systems enhancement initiatives to streamline workflows, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort.
- Coach, develop, and supervise junior accounting team members.
- Support other accounting, reporting, and special projects as assigned.
Essential Skills- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate, multinational, or complex operating environment.
- Experience with large multinational organizations and/or large public accounting firms preferred.
- Working knowledge of large-scale ERP systems; SAP experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and technical accounting principles.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, macros, and data modeling tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive, hands-on self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Prior experience coaching, supervising, or mentoring accounting team members.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting process improvement, automation, or systems enhancement initiatives.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work effectively across functions and levels of the organization.
