Summary

You will serve as the Special Security Officer/ Special Access Program Security Officer/ Foreign Disclosure Officer responsible for overall program management of physical, personnel, and information security disciplines. You will oversee security requirements for intelligence related data, equipment, and facilities under the cognizance of Commander Undersea Surveillance. This position is located at COMMANDER UNDERSEA SURVEILLANCE in Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

  • You will be responsible for physical, personnel, and information security for three shore commands, five ships, and a variety of detachments located around the world.
  • You will oversee and manage the security requirements for classified programs.
  • You will advise program managers on implementation of security policies and standards of classified programs to ensure compliance of proper security application.
  • You will develop, staff, and publish command security policies and procedures within the framework of Federal, Department of Defense, Department of Navy, and other military services policies and procedures.
  • You will conduct preliminary access interviews and prepare, coordinate, and submit requests for security access to the appropriate adjudicative authorities.
  • You will provide guidance to command personnel on foreign disclosure and release of documents outside of the Intelligence Community (IC).

  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) certification program.
  • You are required to obtain the Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) certification within two years of placement in the position and maintain the certification as long as you remain in the position.
  • You are required to obtain the Special Program Security Credential within two years of placement in the position and maintain the certification as long as you remain in the position.
  • This position may require rotating shift-work and/or occasional overtime.


Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-12 grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Perform security indoctrinations and educational briefings for qualified individuals;
  2. Coordinate and perform functions involved in the development, evaluation, implementation, or execution of information security programs;
  3. Manage specialized security programs designed to detect and prevent hostile intelligence penetration;
  4. Protect sensitive operations, activities, services, and classified information from exposure to threats and vulnerabilities;
  5. Utilize policy expertise to implement localized security procedures and deliver expert security education training.
