Duties

Help

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, directing and administering a comprehensive district-wide security program. Typical work assignments will include:

• Serving as the district expert and principal point-of-contact for all physical security matters.
• Coordinating, planning, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of all physical security and systems, equipment, and building modification necessary to ensure adequate security is maintained.
• Participating in contingency and emergency preparedness planning efforts to enable the district to continue essential operations and discharge responsibilities during and following various types of emergency situations.
• Managing the Justice Consolidated Office Network, Secret/Top Secret (JCON-S) (JCON-TS) program.
• Serving as the Communication Security (COMSEC) Representative responsible for the proper receipt, accounting, and safeguarding of COMSEC material.
• Providing clearance level information of USAO personnel and to other government agencies as needed.

Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

• You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
• Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
• You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
• If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
• You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must meet the following conditions, as defined below:

Specialized experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes performing the following types of duties: advising management on all aspects of physical security and emergency preparedness; developing, implementing, and administering contingency and emergency preparedness planning efforts; developing procedures to assess the compliance of security programs with established national, Department, and headquarters policies and procedures, and evaluating the effectiveness of physical, communications, personnel, information and computer security programs; planning and overseeing the installation and maintenance of all physical security systems, equipment, and building modifications.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria. You must provide proof of eligibility to receive selection priority. Such proof may include a copy of your written notification of ICTAP eligibility or a copy of your separation personnel action form.
