DS/DO/P provides a range of protective services to visiting foreign dignitaries, resident foreign dignitaries, domestic dignitaries, and the Secretary of State. DutiesHelp
- Plans, manages, organizes, and directs activities related to accepted protective operations within the assigned portfolio.
- Coordinates with senior Department officials and senior members of foreign and domestic law enforcement entities to plan for protective missions.
- Advises on a range of security, administrative, and resource issues related to security, protection, and/or other law enforcement issues.
- Assists with the planning and coordination of Department of State ministerials and special events domestically.
- Assists with long-range planning, development, and coordination of procedures.

QualificationsApplicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement.
NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:- Experience reviewing and evaluating threat assessments to support the planning of protective security operations.
- Experience coordinating logistical elements for protective security operations.
- Experience recommending solutions to security, protection, or other law enforcement issues.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
