Full Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a technical course developer to join our SecureIT Planning & Governance team. This team comprises IT project managers, training professionals, and technical writers that support the cyber security and information technology specialists of the newly formed SecureIT organization. As a technical course developer, you will be responsible for for the end-to-end lifecycle of training development-from initial needs analysis and research to the creation of high-impact web-based and instructor-led curricula. You will act as a bridge between complex technical requirements and learner comprehension, ensuring that our workforce possess the critical skills necessary to support security and IT requirements. Roles and Responsibilities: - Curriculum Development: Design and develop robust technical training curricula, including both Web-Based Training (WBT) and Instructor-Led Training (ILT) modules. - Materials Creation: Colloborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Technical Writers to develop comprehensive instructional materials, including participant guides, facilitator notes, technical manuals, and performance criteria. - Needs Analysis: Conduct deep-dive research into SecureIT disciplines to identify learning gaps, resource availability, and specific performance expectations. - Strategic Planning: Define training requirements and develop detailed training plans that align with functional/discipline objectives and business requirements. - Technical Integration: Analyze and leverage available software, technology, and infrastructure to deliver modern, scalable learning solutions. - Instructional Design: Apply proven instructional design principles (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to ensure all curricula meet client objectives and maximize knowledge retention Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. Required Skills and Education - Proven experience in instructional design or technical training development, preferably within the aerospace, defense, information technology, or cyber security sectors. - Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical tasks and translate them into structured learning objectives. - Proficiency in designing for multiple modalities (e-Learning, virtual classrooms, and traditional classroom settings). - Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate infrastructure and software constraints to optimize delivery. - Expertise with SumToal Learning Management System - Experience with eLearning Development (Storyline 360, Rise 360, DominKnow Flow) and other tools Preferred Skills and Education - Instructional Design industry certifications - Experience with: - Curriculum Development & Training Strategy - Security, Compliance & Privacy-Focused Training - Training Storyboards & Instructional Documentation - Presentation Design & Facilitation - Visual Design & Learning Experience Design Benefits Information Employee Benefits: At BAE Systems, we support our employees in all aspects of their life, including their health and financial well-being.
