Sector Marketing Manager - PreK-12

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sector Marketing Manager leads the marketing function for the respective HED Pre K-12 Sector. The role is responsible for the quality, consistency, coordination, and execution of the sector's marketing activities, including oversight of proposals and RFP responses, qualifications packages, presentations, collateral, award submissions, project and staff information, and other sector-specific marketing materials.

The Sector Marketing Manager serves as the primary marketing resource to sector leadership and works closely with lead principals, project teams, Strategy and Development, Communications, and the broader Marketing team. The role is responsible for translating the direction established by sector and pursuit leadership into compelling, accurate, responsive, and well-coordinated marketing deliverables.

The Sector Marketing Manager is expected to develop deep expertise in Pre K-12 and directly supervises and develops the sector's Pursuit Specialists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Sector Marketing Leadership:

  • Lead the day-to-day marketing function for Pre K-12
  • Serve as the primary marketing point of contact for the Sector Business Leader, sector leaders, lead principals, and sector teams
  • Help establish consistent sector messaging, qualifications, differentiators, and presentation of HED's capabilities
  • Coordinate sector marketing priorities, assignments, schedules, and resources
  • Support the development and implementation of Pre K-12's annual marketing plan in collaboration with sector leadership, Strategy and Development, and Communications


Sector Knowledge and Content Management:

  • Become an expert in the assigned sector's portfolio, including relevant projects, clients, markets, services, awards, outcomes, and differentiators
  • Maintain current knowledge of key sector personnel, their roles, credentials, expertise, project experience, and client relationships
  • Understand the sector's approach to its work, including common client needs, project types, delivery methods, market challenges, and value propositions
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve sector-specific boilerplate, project descriptions, staff biographies, resumes, qualifications, case studies, and proposal content
  • Coordinate sector award submissions, conference materials, sponsorship materials, speaking proposals, and other promotional activities
  • Collaborate with Communications on public relations, thought leadership, social media, project announcements, editorial opportunities, and external messaging; and Strategy and Development on market-facing activities, client initiatives, conferences, events, and pursuit support
  • Ensure sector marketing materials accurately reflect current capabilities, experience, organizational structure, and strategic priorities; identify content gaps and coordinate development of needed materials
  • Capture and organize information from completed projects and pursuits for future use


Proposals, RFPs, and Pursuit Support:

  • Oversee the marketing response process for RFPs, RFQs, interviews, presentations, qualifications packages, and related pursuit deliverables
  • Collaborate with the lead principal and Strategy and Development team to understand the pursuit strategy, client priorities, win themes, team structure, and desired response
  • Translate pursuit direction into clear, persuasive, and responsive written and visual materials
  • Ensure submissions are accurate, complete, compliant, differentiated, and delivered on schedule
  • Facilitate proposal reviews, interview preparation, presentation development, rehearsals, and final production


Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Directly supervise the sector's Pursuit Specialists
  • Assign and balance workload based on deadlines, complexity, staff capability, and sector priorities
  • Establish performance expectations and provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship
  • Support employee development through training, stretch assignments, and exposure to increasingly complex pursuits and responsibilities
  • Monitor the quality, responsiveness, productivity, and consistency of work produced by Pursuit Specialists
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, resource sharing, and consistent work practices across the Marketing team
  • Coordinate with other Sector Marketing Managers and Marketing leadership to address workload peaks, staffing needs, and firmwide priorities


Process, Quality, and Continuous Improvement:

  • Adapt and reinforce firmwide marketing tools, campaigns, templates, proposal, pursuit, brand, and quality standards
  • Track sector marketing workload, pursuit activity, outcomes, and recurring resource needs
  • Identify opportunities to improve templates, content libraries, systems, processes, and team effectiveness
  • Support the effective use of HED's CRM, project data, staff information, digital asset management, and marketing technology platforms


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, English, Journalism, or a related field
  • Eight to ten years of total marketing experience, including at least three years within architecture, engineering, construction, or professional services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of complex RFP and RFQ processes within the A/E/C industry required
  • Experience supervising, coaching, and developing marketing or proposal professionals required
  • Strong writing, editing, organization, project management, and quality-control skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deadlines and coordinate contributions from senior leaders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to develop deep knowledge of a market sector, project portfolio, and professional team
  • Strong judgment, interpersonal skills, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with relevant proposal, presentation, document production, CRM, and content management tools


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally by phone, video conference, and in person
  • Visual acuity sufficient to review and produce detailed written and graphic materials
