Description

The Routing & Siting Section Manager is responsible for providing leadership and managerial direction to the section within the Environmental Studies Business Line of our Environmental Services global practice of the Upper Midwest Region. This role emphasizes the development of high-performing teams, fostering collaboration, and promoting a positive and inclusive work culture aligned with Burns & McDonnell's values and mission.

  • Direct and coordinate team assignments, ensuring efficient utilization of staff and adherence to cost-effective practices.
  • Drive the profitable growth of the section by aligning staff levels, assignments, and workloads to project requirements while meeting business goals.
  • Implement and support organizational initiatives while guiding the section through change processes effectively and with clear communication.
  • Recruit, develop, train, and retain top talent. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to support employee growth and success.
  • Actively collaborate with business development managers, project managers, and other stakeholders to secure new opportunities and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Monitor and manage the section's budget, ensuring financial performance targets are met. Prepare and present workload and financial reports to leadership.
  • Interpret and communicate organizational policies and goals to the team, ensuring adherence to company standards, safety policies, and QA/QC processes.
  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.
  • Provide expert-level technical guidance and support as needed.
  • Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance and manage expenditures effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned while complying with all policies and standards.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years of related professional experience in design and/or project management required.
  • Significant experience leading transmission routing & siting studies.
  • Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
  • Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.
  • Must be an efficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Compensation

$80,000.00-250,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
