Job DescriptionSection Manager II - Facilities MaintenanceUnder general direction, the Section Manager II assists in planning, organizing and implementing the maintenance of all OCTA-owned facilities, equipment, and fuel systems. This leadership role ensures daily safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations by managing maintenance teams and ensuring contractor compliance, implementing performance-based programs, and supporting budget and contract administration.
The position provides direct oversight to Facilities Maintenance Supervisors and plays a key role in maintaining OCTA's infrastructure in a state of good repair.
This is an exempt management position, salary grade 220; Min $113,276.80 - Mid $135,324.80 - Max $157,352.00 per year. The starting salary will be within the established range based on qualifications.
This posting will remain open until filled.What You'll Do- Manage day-to-day facilities maintenance operations across all OCTA properties and buildings
- Lead, supervise, and support Facilities Maintenance Supervisors and technical staff
- Plan, schedule, and assign maintenance work; monitor productivity and performance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, ADA) and FTA State of Good Repair standards
- Develop and implement maintenance procedures, performance metrics, and process improvements
- Prepare and review reports, work orders, and maintenance documentation
- Support budget planning and monitor expenditures related to facilities and maintenance operations
- Oversee fueling systems, including diesel, gasoline, CNG, hydrogen, electric, and emerging technologies
- Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure efficient service delivery
- Evaluate equipment needs and recommend enhancements for transit-related systems
- Lead recruitment, training, performance management, and professional development of staff
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Facilities Maintenance or related field
- Minimum of five years of facilities maintenance experience
- At least three years of supervisory or management experience
- Strong knowledge of facility systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations
- Experience managing teams in a fast-paced operational environment
- Ability to analyze issues and implement effective solutions
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience with transit or industrial maintenance operations (preferred)
Special Requirements- Valid California Class C Driver License
- Ability to work flexible schedules as needed
- Comfortable working in shop environments with noise, fumes, and physical activity
