- Assess patient's physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
- Evaluates patient's response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome.
- Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV's, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
- Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
- Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner.
- Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
- Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient.
- Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
- Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.
**Previous PACU Experience Required**Day to Day duties:
- Recover all cases both Phase I & II.
- Approx. 10-14+ cases per day
- Pre-Op and PACU share the same space- 8 Bays/ rooms total
- Recovery of both Phase I & II in same area.
- RNs will cover both pre-op and PACU areas with 3-4 total on each shift.
- Staff is expected to float between Pre Op/ PACU
- RNs in pre-op/ PACU are responsible for pre op calls, PATs, transports in addition to the clinical aspects of pre-op and PACU care.
- Unit does see a few recoveries from other departments but is rare

Approx. 120-200+ cases per month
Schedule- 24hrs/ week- Variable shifts per surgical volume and current unit needs
Call required -Every night from 9pm to 7am is covered by call with an average call requirement of 7 nights per schedule period.

Job RequirementsIn addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
- RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact,
Colorado Only: RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc. Compact to Compact. Upon issuance of a new multistate license, the former license is inactivated. - Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's
- BLS from the American Heart Association required
- ACLS, PALS, NIHSS from the American Heart Association required within 6 months of hire
- Previous PACU experience or strong clinical background required
- Previous PACU/ICU/ED experience required
- Two years experience preferred
- Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty
