BRMi is seeking a Performance Test Engineer, you will lead end-to-end performance testing efforts while partnering with QA leadership, software engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure applications meet performance, scalability, reliability, and stability expectations before production deployment.

 

This role requires strong hands-on performance engineering expertise, including designing, developing, executing, and analyzing performance test strategies. You will identify performance bottlenecks, recommend optimization opportunities, and contribute to the continuous improvement of performance testing frameworks, processes, and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain performance test plans, scripts, and scenarios that accurately simulate real-world user behavior.
  • Perform load, stress, endurance, scalability, and volume testing to validate the production readiness of applications and infrastructure.
  • Build and maintain automated performance testing solutions using NeoLoad or similar performance testing platforms.
  • Analyze performance test results to identify system bottlenecks, resource constraints, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Application Insights, Splunk, or similar platforms to evaluate system performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Define performance baselines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) using production or production-like environments to establish measurable performance goals.
  • Identify, document, and understand system dependencies across applications and services to ensure comprehensive performance test coverage.
  • Implement service virtualization and mocking strategies (such as WireMock) to isolate dependencies and enable stable, repeatable testing.
  • Support the stabilization, maintenance, and scalability of performance testing environments.
  • Partner with development, QA, DevOps, and architecture teams to integrate performance testing early in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and support shift-left testing practices.
  • Coordinate and support performance testing efforts across multiple concurrent initiatives to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
  • Review performance test plans, scripts, and results to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.
  • Communicate performance testing results, trends, risks, and recommendations to technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Document, track, and report performance-related defects while partnering with cross-functional teams to drive timely resolution.
  • Analyze and optimize application performance across distributed microservices architectures, containerized platforms, and cloud-native environments.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and quality improvement.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of performance testing strategies, frameworks, automation, and engineering standards.

Qualifications
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in software testing, with a strong emphasis on performance engineering, including planning, designing, executing, analyzing, and optimizing application performance and scalability.
  • Strong hands-on experience designing and executing performance testing strategies, including load, stress, endurance (soak), scalability, and capacity testing.
  • Ability to model realistic workloads, define performance baselines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and understand key performance metrics using production or production-like environments.
  • Proven ability to identify performance risks before production deployment and recommend actionable performance improvements.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills, with the ability to identify bottlenecks and resolve complex issues across applications, databases, infrastructure, and distributed systems.
  • Experience performing performance analysis across distributed microservices architectures, containerized platforms, and cloud-native environments.
  • Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated performance test scripts and frameworks using JavaScript or similar scripting languages.
  • Experience building repeatable, scalable, and maintainable performance testing processes and automation frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with performance testing tools such as NeoLoad or comparable platforms.
  • Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as Azure Application Insights, Splunk, or equivalent to evaluate application performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Experience using Postman for API validation and testing.
  • Experience with dependency mapping, service virtualization, and mocking frameworks, with WireMock preferred.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps or comparable test management tools for planning, executing, tracking, and reporting testing activities.
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC), Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, defect management, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Strong understanding of shift-left testing practices and integrating performance testing early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business partners, stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced Agile environment.
  • Experience with functional testing and Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) practices is a plus.
  • Experience with Azure cloud environments, Kubernetes, containerized applications, and cloud-native architectures is preferred.
