Description

Markon is seeking an experienced Scrum Master 6 Expert Level to support mission-critical Agile software development and systems engineering efforts for an Intelligence Community customer. The Scrum Master will facilitate Agile ceremonies, coach Scrum teams, remove impediments, and ensure successful execution of projects throughout the full system development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience leading Agile teams in complex technical environments and will serve as the primary facilitator between Product Owners, Technical Project Managers (TPMs), Release Managers, developers, and stakeholders. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to ensure projects are delivered on schedule while maintaining alignment with customer priorities and mission objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Coach Agile teams on Scrum principles, Agile best practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Product Owners to develop, prioritize, and maintain product backlogs aligned with customer requirements and business priorities.
  • Remove obstacles and impediments that impact sprint execution and team productivity.
  • Monitor sprint progress and communicate project status, risks, dependencies, and issues to the Technical Project Manager (TPM), leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Release Manager to maintain project plans, release schedules, roadmaps, and delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of software development and systems integration activities.
  • Support end-to-end project management throughout the system development lifecycle, from planning through deployment and sustainment.
  • Provide a holistic systems perspective, understanding the relationships and dependencies between hardware, software, infrastructure, and mission requirements.
  • Facilitate communication between development teams, system engineers, testers, and customer stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to support successful project delivery.
  • Ensure Agile metrics, sprint artifacts, and project documentation are maintained and accurately reported.
  • Promote continuous process improvement, team collaboration, and delivery excellence.
  • Support system implementation, testing, documentation, and maintenance activities as required.
Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 11 years of professional experience, including significant experience serving as a Scrum Master supporting Agile software development projects.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum ceremonies and leading Agile development teams.
  • Experience working closely with Product Owners, Technical Project Managers, Release Managers, developers, and customer stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, Scrum framework, and software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
  • Experience managing project schedules, backlogs, roadmaps, risks, dependencies, and sprint deliverables.
  • Ability to identify and remove impediments while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, software development processes, and integration across hardware and software components.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Agile project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Rally, or equivalent.

Desired:

  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or comparable Agile certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense customers.
  • Experience with SAFe, Kanban, Lean Agile practices, or DevSecOps environments.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based, enterprise, or mission-critical software systems.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
Salary RangeUSD $150,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
