Position Summary
The GSK Vaccines Group is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to join our Preclinical Molecular Biology team in Cambridge, MA. The successful candidate will work on a variety of vaccine discovery and development programs, with a focus on with a focus on protein-polysaccharide based vaccines. Responsibilities
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Assist in designing fusion protein expression constructs, cloning, and testing for expression
  • Execute assays to evaluate the function of the protein component of protein-polysaccharide vaccine candidates in preclinical studies
  • Work collaboratively with vaccine discovery and development teams to execute experiments that support candidate selection and optimization
  • Analyze and interpret data, and present results to internal stakeholders
  • Maintain a high level of scientific rigor and integrity in experimental design, data analysis, and documentation
  • Keep up to date with advances in the field of vaccine development and immunology

Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in molecular biology or a related field, with at least 4 years of laboratory experience or a Doctorate of Philosophy with at least 1 year of experience, industry experience a plus
  • Experience with cloning and sequencing
  • Experience with immunoassays such as BLI, ELISA, immunoblots, and SPR
  • Experience with high-throughput protein expression evaluation/purification using liquid handlers, Coomassie gels, protein concentration assays, and DSF
  • Experience with automation instruments such as Hamilton, Tecan or Bravo


Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Whole genome analysis preferred
  • Interest in vaccines, especially protein-polysaccharide vaccines or related technologies, is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw conclusions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present scientific findings to internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative matrix team environment

• If you are based in Cambridge, MA; Waltham, MA; Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges $89,925 to $149,875. The US salary ranges take into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate's skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role. Available benefits include health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
