Position Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Scientist II with expertise in single cell omics to support innovative research initiatives within the Data, AI, and Genome Sciences department. This contract role is based in Cambridge, MA and will be fully onsite. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in single cell workflows, from cell preparation through NGS library generation, with a strong emphasis on wet lab execution. The role supports discovery and validation efforts through advanced single cell assays and collaborative cross-functional contributions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare high-quality cell and nuclei samples for single cell assays
• Design and execute large-scale single cell assay workflows, including cell preparation and library generation using platforms such as 10X Genomics 3'/5' and Flex assays, Parse, Scale Bio
• Perform NGS library quantification and sequencing using Illumina platforms (e.g., NovaSeq)
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to develop workflow strategies and experimental plans
• Maintain meticulous records and document workflows, procedures, and results for both computational and experimental teams
• Generate comprehensive reports and presentations to support analysis and planning
• Stay up to date with advancements in single cell technologies and related computational techniques
• Ensure rigorous compliance with laboratory protocols and documentation standards
Skills & Qualifications
Educational Background:
• Master's or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field
Core Experience and Skills:
• Minimum of 2 years of focused experience in single cell omics, including cell handling and NGS library generation
• Proficiency with automation tools for sample processing and library prep
• Strong understanding of single cell transcriptomics data requirements
• Direct experience with single cell profiling platforms (e.g., 10X Genomics, Parse, Scale Bio)
• Cell culture and cell handling experience required
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in analyzing single cell transcriptomic datasets
• Familiarity with immune-mediated or metabolic disease biology
• Experience designing workflows for single cell assays
• Publication history in peer-reviewed journals
• Exposure to bioinformatics tools and pipelines (nice to have)
Education:
• Master's or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or closely related discipline
Additional Notes:
• 100% onsite (Cambridge, MA)
• Contract role (Level TBD)
• Focused exclusively on wet lab expertise (no spatial omics required)
• Experience with 10X Genomics is required; Parse and Scale Bio are a plus
