About This Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our Oligonucleotide Chemical Development team as a Scientist I. This role is an exciting opportunity to develop robust processes for the synthesis of oligonucleotides, contributing significantly to both clinical and commercial therapeutics. You will gain hands-on experience in designing and developing manufacturing processes, working closely with our development and manufacturing teams. Your efforts will enhance process robustness, productivity, and impurity control, bringing substantial value to our work in oligonucleotide synthesis. As part of the larger Biogen structure, your contributions will play a pivotal role in advancing our scientific endeavors and impacting patient outcomes.
What You'll Do: • Collaborate with development and manufacturing teams to design and conduct laboratory experiments to optimize synthesis processes.
• Perform ASO pilot-scale syntheses to support preclinical studies.
• Accurately record experimental procedures and data.
• Communicate research results effectively through writing reports and presenting in meetings.
• Engage in CMC activities, including authoring CMC sections of INDs.

Required Skills: • M.S. with 0-2 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings.
• B.S with more than 3 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical or biotech settings.
• Specialization in synthetic organic chemistry, with excellent synthetic skills and a deep understanding of reactivity and reaction mechanisms.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with effective communication skills in written and oral forms.
• Self-driven, independent thinker, vigorous and thorough in experimentation and data interpretation.
Preferred Skills: • Experience in nucleoside chemistry or oligonucleotide synthesis.
• Perform synthetic process research and development of drug candidates and conjugates.
• Continuous improvement mindset for research projects and synthesis processes.

Additional InformationThe base compensation range for this role is: $103,000.00-$134,000.00
Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
