Scientist 2, gCell – Centralized Mammalian Cell Bank for Research

The Opportunity

Looking for a Scientist 2 to join a highly motivated and collaborative team in gCell. We are a centralized cell bank for Research and Early Development at Genentech. This is a hands-on laboratory role. Our mission is to expand, bank and distribute quality ensured cell lines. The ideal candidate will have extensive research experience in culturing a variety of disease and advanced cellular models, including banking and differentiation of Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPCS) and organoids. The scientist will have opportunities to utilize and leverage automation systems to expand cell culture and assist with optimizing genome-wide screens. You will be expected to frequently interact and communicate with other groups as part of a diverse and multidisciplinary team.

This position is based in South San Francisco, on site.

Who You Are

  • BS/MS in life sciences with 4 years of hands-on mammalian cell culture experienceis required.

  • 2 years experiences in culturing and differentiating iPSCs and organoids is required.

  • 1 year automation experience is required.

  • In depth knowledge of viral transductions, screening and cell line engineering.

  • Familiar with QCs: karyotyping, tri-lineage differentiation, pluripotency testing, mycoplasma & STR.

  • Adept with molecular biology/immunological techniques: FACS, IF staining, RT-PCR, biochemical assays, DNA & RNA extraction.

  • Familiar with LIMS and proficient with database maintenance.

  • Clear oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Operate and interpret data from core instrumentation such as, viCell Blu, FACS, qPCR, Biomarker for SNPtype assays, KingFisher for DNA extraction.

The expected salary range for this position based on California is 85 500,00 - 158 700,00 USD Annual.Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
