Job Description and Responsibilities

This is a full-time, short term, on site role as a School Social Worker serving a school located in Oak Brook, IL.

The School Social Worker (SW) will be responsible for providing therapy services to students, conducting assessments, developing IEP plans, evaluating and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, educators, parents), supporting students according to their IEP. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

Job Details

  • Full-time, 37.5 hours/week
  • Short term August-September 2026
  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker endorsement required.
  • 9 - 12 grades
  • 7:45am-3:15pm 5 days/week
  • Job Duties: evaluations, consultation, eligibility and diagnostics, student services
  • Guaranteed Hours, including documentation, administrative and planning time
  • On site, in-person
  • Dual support from the District and TheraPeds
  • Manageable caseloads
  • $60-$70/hour ($2250-$2625+/week)

  • Previous school-based experience preferred; new graduates with the appropriate credentials are encouraged to apply

  • Experience providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and behavioral or social-emotional support for students
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with educational technology and electronic documentation systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, related service providers, families, and community agencies
  • Successful completion of all required background checks and fingerprint clearance
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in accordance with school district and state guidelines


Physical Requirements

Working and playing with students requires that employees must be able to perform the necessary physical movement functions, as needed, such as lifting, sitting, walking, standing, crawling, and engaging with students in all physical locations and activities, while adhering to the duties outlined by the district.
