  • Intervene during unpredictable patient conditions to ensure safety and student success
  • Collaborate with faculty leads and other clinicians to enhance the learning environment
  • Assess and evaluate student performance in client care, using established criteria and tools
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, including input from clinical staff as necessary
  • Facilitate communication with placement sites as the college representative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Title: Degree Nurse Clinician (9 Month Position)

Department: School of Health Science

Location: College Drive Campus - North Bay, ON

Status: Permanent Full-Time - Less Than 12 Month Position (9 months)

Assignment dates: September - May

Hours Per Week: 37.50

Pay Range: $58.84

Responsibilities:
  • Provide students with appropriate learning experiences in acute, long term, community, and simulated health care settings
  • Select clients for student care according to level and ability of the student and course learning outcomes
  • Supervise and monitor ongoing client care provided by students
  • Utilize set educational guidelines, policies and procedures of the clinical agency/simulation environment, educational institution and Guidelines for Professional Standards
  • Intervene in unpredictable and ever-changing patient(s) condition to ensure patient safety and student success
  • Work collaboratively with faculty lead and other Degree Nurse Clinicians to determine and implement an effective learning environment
  • Assess, evaluate and report on student performance in giving client care by adhering to learning outcome criteria and using established forms and evaluation tools written and prepared by course faculty
  • Reassess student competency, level of learning, synthesis of knowledge and applications (i.e. performance) in unstable environments and changing patient conditions
  • Record observations on student clinical placement performance including seeking input from clinical agency staff when there is an incident or area of concern regarding a student's performance
  • Provide the clinical course faculty lead the final evaluation and decision regarding the student's success in the course
  • Build and maintain relationships/linkages with placement sites as the College on-site representative
  • Other duties as assigned
