Job Description

The Station Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing detailed construction schedules for assigned stations within the Ontario Line South (OLS) project. Working closely with project management, engineering, construction, and contractor teams, the Scheduler ensures project activities are accurately planned, monitored, and reported to support the successful delivery of key project milestones. The role involves schedule development and updates, progress tracking, critical path analysis, contractor schedule reviews, delay and impact assessments, and the preparation of schedule reports.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 CAD, plus additional benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities across the Ontario Line South (OLS) project, working closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve key project milestones and delivery objectives.
  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for one or more assigned stations, ensuring alignment with contract requirements, project priorities, construction sequencing, and overall program timelines.
  • Establish and maintain baseline schedules, incorporating project phasing, critical milestones, construction logic, resource requirements, and key project constraints.
  • Collect, review, and validate schedule updates from construction, engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure project schedules accurately reflect actual progress and forecasted completion dates.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly schedule updates, reports, and narratives, providing clear and accurate analysis of project status, key accomplishments, critical path activities, schedule variances, emerging risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze schedule performance against baseline plans and identify potential delays, productivity issues, and opportunities for schedule recovery or optimization.
  • Prepare and review contractor monthly schedule submissions to ensure compliance with contractual scheduling requirements and project controls standards.
  • Verify and assess contractor schedules for the proper use of activity coding structures, work breakdown structures (WBS), logic relationships, calendars, constraints, activity durations, critical path methodology, and overall schedule quality.
  • Maintain schedule integrity and ensure compliance with project controls procedures, reporting requirements, and established scheduling best practices.
  • Review and assess contractor and internal weekly look-ahead schedules to ensure alignment with the approved project schedule and upcoming construction activities.
  • Coordinate with construction teams and contractors to identify potential schedule conflicts, interface issues, resource constraints, and other factors that may impact project delivery.
  • Support schedule change management activities by evaluating schedule modifications resulting from design changes, scope revisions, unforeseen conditions, or construction impacts.
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of Time Impact Analyses (TIA), extension of time requests, schedule recovery plans, and delay assessments.
  • Evaluate schedule impacts and support project teams with delay analysis, schedule forecasting, and the development of mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Review contract documents, specifications, and project requirements to understand contractual obligations, milestone commitments, reporting requirements, and scheduling deliverables.
  • Participate in project meetings, planning sessions, schedule reviews, and coordination workshops, providing scheduling expertise and recommendations to support project decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, engineers, subcontractors, and project controls personnel to ensure the integration of design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities within the project schedule.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of project controls processes, scheduling methodologies, reporting practices, and planning standards across the program.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while promoting collaboration, communication, and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in construction scheduling, planning, or project controls, preferably on large-scale infrastructure, transit, transportation, or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and analyzing project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6, including schedule development, baseline management, progress updating, critical path analysis, schedule reporting, and schedule forecasting.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, design packages, construction methodologies, project phasing, and logical sequencing of work activities.
  • Working knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles and project controls best practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Schedule Analyzer, Microsoft Project, TILOS, or other project controls software is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of schedule risk analysis, delay analysis, earned value management, and project controls processes is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify schedule risks, assess impacts, and develop effective solutions.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to schedule accuracy and data integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced project environment while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond effectively to changing project requirements and business priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical scheduling information to a variety of audiences.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
  • Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification is considered an asset.
