The SAP MDG Lead is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the Master Data Governance framework for the S/4HANA program. This role governs the creation and maintenance of enterprise-wide master data (including Financials, Business Partners, and Materials) to ensure high-quality, consistent, and audit-ready information across the federal landscape. The MDG Lead orchestrates the transition from decentralized data management to a centralized "Single Source of Truth," leveraging SAP MDG to automate workflows and enforce business rules.

Key responsibilities:
  • Design and govern the SAP MDG architecture, including the selection of deployment models (Hub vs. Co-deployment) and the definition of the data model for all relevant domains
  • Establish and enforce enterprise-grade data standards, naming conventions, and validation rules to ensure data integrity across the S/4HANA digital core
  • Lead the hands-on configuration of the MDG framework, including Data Modeling, UI Modeling (Floorplan Manager), Process Modeling (Workflow), and Data Quality Remediation
  • Design and implement complex Change Request (CR) workflows, ensuring that data stewardship processes are efficient and meet federal audit requirements
  • Lead the strategies for initial data load, consolidation of duplicate records, and mass changes to master data using MDG integration services
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Data workstream and functional squads (B2R, P2P, O2C) to ensure that master data requirements support end-to-end business processes
  • Partner with the BTP and Middleware teams to manage the distribution of master data from the MDG hub to downstream SAP and non-SAP systems using SOA, ALE/IDoc, or OData
  • Utilize SAP Information Steward or MDG Data Quality Management (DQM) to monitor data health, reporting on KPIs and driving remediation efforts where data falls below federal standards

Here's what you need:
  • 2+ years of experience with SAP MDG implementations, with deep expertise in MDG-F (Financials), MDG-S (Supplier), MDG-C (Customer), or MDG-M (Material
  • Hands-on experience with the SAP MDG technical framework, including BRFplus (Business Rule Framework), ABAP Object-Oriented programming, and BADI implementations
  • Strong understanding of the S/4HANA Business Partner (BP) concept and the Universal Journal's impact on master data

Nice to have:
  • Expert knowledge of the SAP Activate methodology, specifically regarding data workstream deliverables during the Explore and Realize phases
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate data governance councils and advise senior leadership on data stewardship and ownership
  • Familiarity with federal data standards and internal control frameworks ensuring that master data management supports Federal Audit Readiness (FIAR)
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
