The Principal Architect translates business strategy into a scalable domain architecture roadmap and ensures Salesforce investments deliver reusable enterprise capabilities that accelerate revenue growth, improve seller productivity, and enhance customer experiences.

Working closely with business leaders, product teams, enterprise architects, platform architects, and delivery organizations, this individual guides initiatives from business concept through implementation and capability evolution. The role provides architecture leadership across multiple programs, establishes domain architecture standards, and ensures solutions align with enterprise platform strategies and governance requirements.

The Principal Architect acts as the primary architecture authority for Salesforce Sales capabilities and is accountable for ensuring business priorities, platform capabilities, and delivery execution remain aligned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the Salesforce Sales domain strategy, target-state architecture, and multi-year capability roadmap.
  • Translate business objectives, operating-model changes, and growth initiatives into scalable technology capabilities and solution roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain business capability catalogs, value streams, process architectures, technology landscapes, and target-state transition plans.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to prioritize investments, evaluate options, and balance strategic goals with operational realities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline sales processes, improve seller experience, automate manual activities, and eliminate fragmented solutions.
  • Align technology capabilities to revenue growth, sales effectiveness, customer acquisition, onboarding efficiency, and account management outcomes.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise capabilities and reduce unnecessary customization and duplication.

Solution Architecture and Capability Leadership
  • Lead architecture efforts for complex Sales Cloud initiatives and enterprise sales transformation programs.
  • Define solution architectures supporting lead-to-opportunity, quote-to-close, account management, territory management, pipeline management, forecasting, and customer engagement capabilities.
  • Establish domain-level architecture standards, reusable patterns, capability models, and implementation guidance.
  • Design solutions that leverage existing platform services, enterprise integrations, shared data assets, and reusable components.
  • Evaluate business requirements and ensure proposed solutions meet functional, technical, operational, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Salesforce Platform & AI Architecture team to ensure alignment with enterprise platform standards and roadmap direction.
  • Identify and mitigate technology risks, architectural gaps, dependencies, and scalability concerns.

Architecture Governance
  • Represent the Sales domain within enterprise architecture governance forums, design reviews, and Salesforce Centers of Excellence.
  • Define decision frameworks and architecture principles specific to the Salesforce Sales domain.
  • Evaluate initiatives early to clarify capability ownership, process boundaries, solution options, and cross-functional impacts.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, integration, data, and platform governance standards.
  • Review solution designs and architectural decisions for compliance with approved patterns and target-state objectives.
  • Resolve cross-functional architecture issues involving sales processes, data, integrations, customer engagement platforms, and supporting enterprise systems.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, capability maps, decision records, and roadmap artifacts.

Delivery Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide architecture leadership throughout discovery, planning, solution design, implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Lead and mentor delivery architects and technical teams supporting the Sales domain.
  • Establish clear architecture accountabilities across architects, engineering teams, implementation partners, and vendors.
  • Guide teams through complex technical and business decisions while maintaining alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Promote architecture best practices, reusable assets, design consistency, and continuous improvement.
  • Support capability development and mentoring across architecture and engineering communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, business architecture, or technology leadership roles.
  • Significant experience designing and implementing Salesforce solutions in large, complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise in Sales Cloud and enterprise sales processes including lead management, opportunity management, account management, forecasting, territory management, customer onboarding, and commercial operations.
