Job Summary

The Sales Representative is responsible for driving demand and sales for Acuity's electronics portfolio including commercial lighting controls, LED drivers, emergency components, software solutions, and services throughout the New York City (NYC) metro market. The role also supports projects specified in NYC that are executed in other territories, ensuring alignment, continuity, and a consistent customer experience.

This position serves as a trusted technical and commercial advisor, influencing specifications, shaping solutions, and guiding customers through the full sales lifecycle from early discovery and application support through project execution and long-term value realization. Success in this role requires strong technical aptitude, disciplined opportunity development, and the ability to translate complex solutions into clear customer value.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Build and strengthen relationships with targeted NYC specifiers and contractors to reinforce our value proposition. Cultivate trust and preference to maximize lighting controls and electronics components sales opportunities and increase our market share.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities by leveraging company provided tools, market intelligence, and external resources specific to the NYC construction and renovation market. Support the development of pricing strategies for controls products and integrated solutions.
  • Collaborate with Electronics Sales Managers across regions and other sales channels to support controls-driven projects specified out of NYC that are ultimately executed outside the territory. Ensure alignment, continuity, and coordinated customer engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Apply ABS tools and methodologies to improve sales effectiveness, accelerate project development, and enhance overall performance in the NYC market.
  • Represent the company professionally within NYC industry organizations, associations, and events that influence specification practices. Actively participate in groups that promote education and advancement of lighting controls, energy code and related technologies.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office and technical software tools to analyze business data, prepare reports, and communicate effectively within a matrix organization. Work collaboratively across teams to support project execution and customer satisfaction.

Analyze market trends, energy codes, utility incentives, competitive dynamics, and customer needs to uncover growth opportunities. Serve as the voice of the customer by collecting, synthesizing, and communicating market feedback to internal electronics product and marketing teams.

Skills and Minimum Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5 to 7 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Basic understanding of the lighting and/or controls business is preferred.
  • Overnight travel required. Percentage of travel based upon geographic needs.

The range for this position is $83,300.00 to $164,400.00. Placement within this range may vary, depending on the applicant's experience and geographic location.
