Job Description

About this Role:

Reporting to the Director of US Business Development (BD), the Sales Manager will drive sales activities for Marconi Technologies (tactical radios, troposcatter, satellite communications) for the Western United States and to US military units in the Indo-Pacific region.

This role focuses on handson sales execution, customer engagement, and opportunity progression. This role sits between senior BD leadership and presales teams, ensuring that tactical opportunities are identified, advanced, and closed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales & Opportunity Management

  • Own the full sales cycle for unitlevel and shortterm opportunities: from prospecting to close.
  • Qualify leads, assess customer needs, and escalate larger programmatic opportunities to senior BD.
  • Execute tactical pursuit plans and support departmental strategies.
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and ensure pipeline visibility.
  • Support demos, field trials, and proposal preparation with presales and engineering teams.

Customer Engagement & Presence

  • Build and maintain regular contact with customers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, product discussions, and tactical engagement.
  • Represent Marconi Technologies at events: unitlevel engagements, regional trade shows, and customer visits.

Market Awareness & Internal Collaboration

  • Gather and communicate market intelligence, competitor activity, and customer insights.
  • Collaborate with senior BD, product management, and engineering to align solutions with customer needs.
  • Provide structured inputs for bid/nobid decisions for opportunities within scope.

Strategic Opportunity Support

  • Support the senior BD team on larger/long-term opportunities through structured handover and coordination.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between presales, capture, and contracting teams.
  • Contribute to internal reviews and approval processes for opportunities within assigned authority.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related fields.
  • 3 6 years of sales experience, ideally in defense, communications, or adjacent technical sectors.
  • Ability to travel up to ~75% based on business needs.
  • Eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Candidate based in Western US.
  • Knowledge of government procurement regulations & US Defense acquisition processes.
  • Strong motivation to hunt, prospect, and close nearterm opportunities.
  • Experience working with teams across time zones.
  • Background in military service or military communications roles is an asset.
  • Strong technical understanding of military communications architectures, doctrine, and technologies.
  • Experience in defense sales, marketing, or capture support.
