Job Title: Sales Manager

To strengthen our team in Allentown,
we are looking for you as a(n) Sales Manager.

The Sales Managers will support Wacker Polymer sales within the specified region (or customer collection) and will be the first line of commercial and technical support for customers in the region. Markets served are across a broad range of markets: carpet, coatings, non-wovens, caulk and mastics, adhesives and building products. Responsible for growing polymers business at existing accounts and developing relationships across multiple levels within the customer matrix. Have capability to integrate inputs from multiple contacts at key accounts to identify and pursue opportunities that create differentiation relative to our competitors and drive long term strategic profitable growth. Leading member of the customer team, which also includes ADTS and marketing members and plays a critical role in developing, managing and integrating the actions for the Customer Development Planning into actions for the team throughout the year.

Essential Functions of this Position
  • Maintain and strengthen key commercial and technical relationships in markets/customers strategic to business goals (as defined by business targets and strategic plans). Develop relationships across functions and at different levels within the customer organization.
  • Work with marketing and ADTS to develop and close opportunities that will contribute to future growth and market development. Responsible for driving closure of opportunities.
  • Communicate market intelligence for market database and operational and strategic marketing using call reports, voice mail and professionally written e-mails. Integrate competitive information into routine reporting. Make sure business is up to date on competitive activities that could influence results.
  • Take a leading role in Customer Development Planning. Develop account plans for Strategic customers and keep plans fresh and actionable driving to growth for the business.
  • Participate, with customer team members, in contract and annual negotiations with selected customers on bids, annual pricing initiatives and contracts. Maximize profit and business goals.


Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business or technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 or more years of relevant experience, preferably in the chemical industry.
  • Strong organization, communication and follow-up skills, interest in learning new technology (chemical and electronic literacy) and influence skills to sell internally as well as at the customer level
  • Ability to identify and close new opportunities
  • Working knowledge of the MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Must be able to learn customer relationship management (Salesforce.com) technology and business reporting technology (SAP/Business Objects)
  • Individual should have commercial experience in an educational environment or chemical engineering educational experience or minimum (8+ years) experience in chemical sales, marketing or business development.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Individual must have strong organization, communication and follow up skills, interest in learning new technology (chemical and electronic literacy) and influence skills to sell internally as well as at the customer level.
  • Ability to identify and close new opportunities important
  • Individual should be proficient in Word and be able to learn Powerpoint and Excel.
  • Must be able to learn new customer relationship management (Salesforce.com) technology and business reporting technology (SAP/Business Objects).
  • Ability to manage two critical, large, complex customer accounts by driving strategic commercial growth while ensuring seamless operational execution across a multi-plant manufacturing network. The role combines executive-level relationship management, value-based selling, contract negotiation, supply chain coordination, and cross-functional leadership to deliver long-term customer success and profitable growth.
  • In addition manages a group of small to medium sized customers, maintaining business relationships, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring high levels of service and responsiveness.
  • Ability to learn new technology and rely on increasing product and market knowledge plus experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
