About the Role

This role is responsible for driving new account sales across mid-size, national, and jumbo markets, with a focus on achieving sales targets while ensuring the acquisition of profitable and sustainable business.

What You'll Do

  • Sells new business to potential accounts, working towards sales goals while ensuring the sale of prudent and profitable business.
  • Develops prospective accounts and clients
  • Maintains and develops broker and consultant relationships.
  • Informs and educates prospects on Horizon products and services.
  • Ensures prospects are informed of relevant legislative and regulatory issues and their associated impact.
  • Responds to Request for Proposal (RFPs) and produces sales proposals in conjunction with the proposal team.Contributes ideas to management on improving marketing and sales efforts.
  • Participates in ongoing sales training to enhance skills in group insurance, presentation skills, and products.
  • Works closely with Account Managers on new business implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

What You Bring

Education/Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of professional sales experience, preferably in the health insurance industry, with a documented track record of success.

  • Experience with self-funded products and Third-Party Administrator highly preferred.


Additional licensing, certifications, registrations

  • Requires a New Jersey State Health/Life License.


Knowledge

  • Must be proficient and possess advanced skills in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Should be knowledgeable in the use of intranet and internet applications.

  • Requires knowledge of Group Health products lines including Managed Care.

  • Prefers knowledge of Horizon BCBSNJ products and underwriting policies.

Travel (If Applicable)
Travel throughout New Jersey is required predominantly. There may periodically travel to other US locations.

Salary Range:

$123,500 - $143,955

This position is eligible for sales incentive compensation in addition to base pay.  ​This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.  This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting.  Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
