Full Job Description
Since 1988, Sun Design has helped families remodel their homes throughout the DMV area. What sets us apart is how we treat people - with respect, transparency, and genuine care. We create stunning, functional spaces, and we love what we do.

We're proud to be one of Virginia's Best Places to Work 2024-but don't confuse our collaborative culture with complacency. Our team is high-performing, motivated, and mission-driven. We operate with freedom within a framework - allowing our people to grow while staying aligned with our values: truth, fun, charity, exceptional experience, financial wisdom, and growth of the individual.

This is not your typical sales gig. As a Sales Consultant at Sun Design, you're not just selling remodeling projects - you're guiding clients through a life-changing experience. You'll be their trusted advisor from the first handshake to the final walkthrough, working closely with our internal design and production teams to ensure the project runs smoothly and clients walk away thrilled.

The Role:

You will be the first point of contact for prospective clients, building trust, identifying needs, and guiding them through the design-build process. Once under contract, you'll stay involved throughout design, budgeting, and construction to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.

Key Responsibilities:
• Generate and manage leads via networking, building strategic partnerships, referrals, events, inbound inquiries, and CRM follow-up
• Maintain detailed records in HubSpot and Buildertrend
• Conduct in-home consultations and build strong relationships with homeowners
• Qualify clients based on needs, timing, and budget
• Collaborate with designers to align design scope with budget and goals
• Track project budgets and conduct design reviews to maintain alignment
• Support the client through construction with walkthroughs and regular check-ins
• Partner with Project Managers and Construction Managers to ensure quality and satisfaction
• Communicate clearly across teams using Microsoft Teams and other internal tools
• Deliver a five-star client experience from concept to completion

What You Bring:
• Hunter mentality with strong relationship-building skills
• Established relationships or a professional network in the residential construction industry within the DC Metro area - a strong book of local contacts is highly valued
• 3+ years of outside sales or client relationship experience, in large scale residential remodeling, new home sales, or design-build
• Integrity above all else - you do the right thing, even when no one's watching, with a strong moral compass and a deep commitment to doing what's right for clients, team members, and the company
• Strong communication and emotional intelligence - you know how to build rapport and earn trust
• Highly organized with experience managing multiple clients and deadlines
• Entrepreneurial mindset-you take ownership and thrive in a commission-driven role
• Sandler sales process experience is a big plus
• Experience with CRMs and/or construction project management software is a must but experience with HubSpot, Buildertrend, and/or Microsoft Teams is a big plus
• Knowledge of residential construction processes and terminology is a must
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation

What We Offer:
• Uncapped earning potential: draw + commission + bonuses
• Guaranteed training pay for the first 3 months during your ramp-up period-so you can focus on learning, building your pipeline, and hitting the ground running with confidence
• Hybrid work environment
• Company provided laptop and iPad
• 401(k) with company match
• Health, dental, and vision benefits-generously subsidized
• Paid parental leave, holidays, vacation, and PTO
• Company-wide bonuses and incentive programs
• Ongoing professional development through Sun Design University and Sandler sales training
• Open-book financials-we believe in full transparency
• A team culture built on truth, fun, charity, financial wisdom, and growth of the individual
