Job classification: P2043 - Project Coordinator

Salary range: $90,000 - $110,000

Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Hours per week: 37.5

Paid leave: 4 Weeks Vacation / 14 Flex Days per year

The Sales and Marketing Specialist drives the growth, visibility, revenue performance, and client experience of Event Services. The role establishes annual sales priorities and revenue targets, determines target markets, develops and approves marketing plans, controls an approved marketing budget, owns pricing recommendations within established parameters, and negotiates standard client agreements.

The role also leads sales and marketing initiatives, manages client relationships, prepares venue proposals, oversees client communications and promotional content, and maintains accurate information across booking, reporting, web, and marketing channels.

NOTE: This position requires occasional travel (approximately 10% of the time) to attend industry events, networking functions, client meetings, and promotional activities.

How you'll contribute

Sales development, Account Management, and Revenue Growth
  • Develop and manage a sales pipeline for Event Services by identifying, cultivating, and converting new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients to increase venue utilization, repeat business, and revenue generation.
  • Lead client discovery discussions, assess business needs, develop customized solutions, and prepare proposals that align organizational objectives with client requirements.
  • Lead sales activity, conversion rates, and business-development outcomes.
  • Accountable for achieving annual lead generation, venue utilization, and revenue growth targets through the development and execution of business development and marketing plans.
  • Develop and maintain venue packages, proposal templates, sales presentations, promotional materials, and other client-facing resources that support business development and revenue generation.


Marketing Strategy, Brand growth, and Market Development
  • Plan, administer, monitor, and reconcile the Event Services marketing budget and associated campaign expenditures, ensuring spending aligns with approved priorities, financial controls, and departmental revenue objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate integrated marketing strategies that increase awareness, demand, and utilization of Event Services venues and offerings.
  • Identify target audiences, establish campaign objectives, determine appropriate marketing channels, and evaluate performance metrics to optimize marketing effectiveness and support departmental revenue goals.
  • Maintain and update Event Services website content, venue listings, digital assets, event profiles, FAQs, promotional pages, and online resources to ensure information remains current, accurate, accessible, and aligned with SAIT brand standards.
  • Coordinate and maintain Event Services social media content calendars, develop content in collaboration with internal stakeholders, monitor engagement and performance metrics, and support campaigns that increase awareness of Event Services venues, services, and client experiences.


Business intelligence, Market Analysis, and Growth Planning
  • Analyze sales performance, venue utilization, market trends, client feedback, campaign effectiveness, and competitive activity to identify strategic opportunities for revenue growth and business expansion.
  • Develop forecasts, dashboards, and performance reports that contribute to decision-making and departmental planning.
  • Lead market research initiatives to assess customer needs, industry trends, competitive positioning, and emerging opportunities.
  • Translate findings into actionable recommendations that support sales growth, improved client experiences, and increased utilization of Event Services venues and services.


Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination
  • Coordinate with other SAIT departments and approved external vendors to confirm service requirements, handoffs, timelines, and client-ready information.
  • Support preferred vendor and partnership documentation as needed.
  • Provide functional guidance and assign project-based work to student staff, casual staff, contractors, and other project participants to support workflow continuity and the successful delivery of sales, marketing, and client-service initiatives.


Process Improvement and Client-Experience Support
  • Collect and synthesize client/stakeholder feedback.
  • Recommend improvements to communication templates, proposal workflows, booking forms, sales collateral, and post-event follow-up.
  • Support the development of repeatable standards for sales and marketing activities.


What you bring

  • Diploma in business, marketing, communications, hospitality, event management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in business development, sales, marketing, client relationship management, venue sales, hospitality, events, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies, managing client portfolios, analyzing market and business performance data, identifying revenue growth opportunities, and providing recommendations to leadership is required.
  • Experience leading marketing campaigns, business-development initiatives, market research, and strategic planning activities is preferred.
  • Experience within a post-secondary, venue management, conference, hospitality, or event environment is considered an asset.
  • Training or designations in event, hospitality, marketing, communications, project management, digital marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, or customer experience would be an asset.
  • CSEP, CMP, Google Analytics, Google Ads, or related certifications would be an asset.
  • Experience with booking systems, Microsoft 365, Teams/SharePoint, Monday.com or similar tools.
