Position Title: Sales and Business Development Director

The Opportunity

The Director of Sales & Business Development is responsible for accelerating AGI's growth by developing and executing commercial strategies that expand market share, increase revenue, and strengthen customer relationships across the agriculture industry. This leader partners closely with the Sales organization to identify new business opportunities, develop strategic customer partnerships, enter new markets, and drive sustainable revenue growth.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with a hands-on approach to business development and has experience in agricultural equipment, grain handling, seed, fertilizer, food processing, manufacturing, or other agricultural markets.

Responsibilities:

Sales Partnership
  • Develop and execute AGI's US business development strategy aligned with corporate growth objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities across existing and emerging agricultural markets.
  • Build strategic relationships with key customers, dealers, distributors, OEM partners, and industry influencers.
  • Develop long-term growth strategies for new products, services, and market segments.
  • Lead negotiations for strategic partnerships and commercial agreements.

Sales Partnership
  • Partner with Sales Directors and Regional Sales Managers to identify high-value growth opportunities.
  • Support strategic customer meetings and executive-level sales engagements.
  • Assist sales teams in developing account growth strategies for key national and global accounts.
  • Improve sales effectiveness through market intelligence and competitive insights.
  • Collaborate on pricing, commercial strategies, and customer value propositions.

Market Growth
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, competitive activity, and emerging technologies.
  • Recommend investments in new markets, products, and customer segments.
  • Evaluate acquisition and partnership opportunities that align with AGI's growth strategy.
  • Develop business cases supporting expansion initiatives.

Customer Experience
  • Build executive relationships with key customers across the agriculture value chain.
  • Gather Voice of Customer (VOC) insights to improve products and services.
  • Identify customer pain points and collaborate with internal teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Increase customer retention and long-term account value.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Product Management to align product roadmaps with customer demand.
  • Work closely with Marketing to develop campaigns supporting market expansion.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure commercial commitments can be successfully executed.
  • Partner with Finance to develop revenue forecasts and growth models.

Industry Leadership
  • Represent AGI at industry trade shows, customer events, and agricultural conferences.
  • Develop relationships with industry associations and strategic partners.
  • Stay informed on agricultural trends, regulations, sustainability initiatives, and emerging technologies impacting the industry.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Engineering, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales, business development, commercial strategy, or account management.
  • Experience within agriculture, manufacturing, grain handling, seed, fertilizer, equipment, food processing, or related industries preferred.
  • Demonstrated success growing revenue through strategic business development initiatives.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and influencing without direct authority.
  • Strong executive presence and presentation skills.
  • Ability to analyze market data and translate insights into growth strategies.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 40-60%.
