Full Job Description
We are seeking to hire candidates for our Safety Training Program Specialist (9264). Opening Date: 09/03/2026 Closing Date: 09/17/2026 Job Grade: SAM 38 Salary Range: $73,164.00-$91,442.00 OVERALL DESCRIPTION The Safety Training Program Specialist will provide expert assistance in assessing and prioritizing line management's prevention of safety, health, and environmental hazards through implementing an Authority-wide Safety Training Program via the Authority's Safety Management System (SMS). Specifically, the Safety Training Program Specialist will assist in the coordination, design, facilitation, evaluation, and/or conduct safety training on topics that encompass Occupational. Environmental and Construction Safety as well as configure computer-based training to deliver throughout the Authority. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Works with the Director to develop, review, and continually improve, objectives. policies and procedures and interpret such policies throughout the Authority. 2. Reviews and implements the Authority-wide Safety Training vendor third-party contract as well as internal safety training programs. Updates: and assesses SEPTA 's Safety Training vendor contract Scope of Work. 3. Coordinates the implementation of safety training programs and the administration of employee development initiatives. 4. Implements. and evaluates classroom, e-learning, and simulations training and orientation projects for managerial and non-managerial employees. 5. Ensures the Authority Safety Training Plan meets all SEPTA & regulatory requirements and collaborate with departmental heads to ensure the plan is followed per required training frequency. 6. Analyzes and interprets data to identify current and future training needs that maximize employee development. 7. Promotes a consistent safety culture that incorporates operations, safety and maintenance departments and emphasizes the team approach and individual responsibility of all employees to achieve common goals. 8. Provides the delivery of the training material 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at various locations throughout the Authority. 9. Maintains all records and data in all related areas in accordance with the divisional filing system. 10. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Instructional Design, Human Resources Management, Adult Education, Behavioral Sciences, Statistics, Occupational Safety or related field plus three (3) years of related experience which includes developing and implementing training programs and/or working in a safety training role required. - An equivalent combination of education and experience (two (2) years of experience equating to one ( 1) year of advanced education) may be considered in lieu of the above-listed requirements. - Strong planning, analyzing and administrative skills required. - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required, including technical writing skills required. - Demonstrated record of developing training programs utilizing effective training technologies, (i.e., webinars, computer-based gaming, and simulations) required. - Excellent computer skills, including demonstrated ability in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Adobe required. - Must demonstrate the ability to pursue/perform multiple tasks simultaneously. - Must have a strong understanding of union and management environment and demonstrate the ability to address health and safety matters directly, properly, and appropriately to union employees. - Must be able to satisfy rigorous and demanding work schedules, which include non-traditional working hours, and short-term deadlines. - Must have valid driver's license. IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Budget experience preferred. - Strong knowledge of the Occupational Safety & Health Administration. Federal Railroad Administration. Federal Railroad Administration.
