Salary: $106,800 - $138,000

Olin Winchester, LLC ("Winchester"), considered one of the world's leading ammunition manufacturers,is seeking a Safety Specialist to work at the US Army's premier small caliber manufacturing facility located in Independence, MO

Focus: The Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This role involves evaluating workplace conditions, identifying risks, and implementing measures to mitigate hazards while fostering a culture of safety. The ideal candidate demonstrates expertise in safety regulations, critical thinking, and effective communication to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Safety Specialist Essential Job Functions:
  • Develops, manages, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Conducts audits of procedures, facilities, and equipment to identify unsafe conditions and implement effective safeguards and solutions.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes and establish corrective actions, emphasizing continuous improvement in safety practices.
  • Provides safety support across manufacturing operations, maintenance, ballistics, and various projects, including modernization and construction efforts.
  • Performs ergonomic analyses and reviews to enhance workplace safety and comfort.

Safety Specialist Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree*; Occupational Health or Safety Management related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) knowledge is preferred.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills to evaluate solutions, conclusions, and problem-solving approaches effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Possesses strong presentation skills to deliver safety and training sessions as required.


Location-Specific Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.

*Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent program from an international university.
