Full Job Description
Position Summary

Vessco Water is seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Manager to join our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team. Working under the strategic guidance of the Safety Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation, oversight and enhancement of safety programs across our operations.

Your primary mission is to foster a "Safety First" culture, ensuring that all team members-from field technicians to office staff-return home safely every day. You will serve as the technical expert on-site, bridging the gap between corporate safety policy and field execution.

Key Responsibilities

Program Implementation & Compliance
  • Operational Oversight: Execute safety policies and procedures as defined by the Safety Director, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations.
  • Site Inspections: Conduct regular audits of facilities and job sites to identify potential hazards and verify that corrective actions are implemented promptly.
  • Risk Management: Oversee high-risk activities including confined space entry, lockout/tagout (LOTO), working at heights and/or hot work.

Training & Mentorship
  • Safety Training: Facilitate engaging safety orientations for new hires and ongoing specialized training (e.g., fall protection, confined space, electrical, chemical handling and PPE usage) for existing team members.
  • Tailgate Meetings: Support field leads in conducting effective daily safety hazard assessments and toolbox talks.
  • Hands-on Coaching: Provide real-time feedback and mentorship to team members to improve safety behaviors and technical competency.

Incident Management & Analysis
  • Investigation: Lead the investigation of all close-calls, injuries and property damage incidents.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Work with the Safety Director to perform deep-dive analysis into incidents to prevent recurrence.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate incident logs and prepare weekly/monthly metrics for the Safety Director. Provide assistance with completion and updates to customer-required and third-party prequalification platforms (Avetta, ISNetworld, etc).

Equipment & Fleet Safety
  • Inspection Programs: Manage the inspection and maintenance schedules for safety equipment, including automatic external defibrillators (AEDs), fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, overhead cranes/hoists and personal protective equipment.
  • Fleet Safety: Monitor driver behavior and vehicle safety compliance for the Vessco Water service fleet.

Qualifications
  • Education: Associate's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within the water/wastewater treatment, construction or industrial service sectors.
  • Certifications:
    • Required: OSHA 30-Hour (Construction or General Industry).
    • Preferred: Safety Trained Supervisor (STS), Construction Health & Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Hygiene & Safety Technician (OHST).
  • Technical Skills: Deep understanding of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926 standards.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to influence team members at all levels; "boots-on-the-ground" mentality.

Compensation:$98,784 - $118,056

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Must be comfortable working in various environments, including water/wastewater treatment plants, industrial plants, construction sites and outdoor locations.
  • Ability to climb ladders, enter confined spaces (where authorized) and wear required PPE for extended periods.
  • Willingness to travel to various regional sites as directed by the Safety Director (25% - 50% depending on required needs).

Note: This role is critical to Vessco Water's operational excellence. The Safety Manager must be a visible leader who balances technical compliance with genuine care for the well-being of the team.

Benefits:
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Dental insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Vision insurance
