Lead Safety Across a Major Construction PortfolioAn established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced
Safety Manager to lead its COR-certified health and safety program across a diverse portfolio of construction projects.
This is not a coordinator-level compliance position. The Safety Manager will be responsible for setting expectations, strengthening safety systems, guiding project leadership, managing organizational risk, and ensuring consistent execution across active construction sites.
The company delivers new construction, renovations, retrofits, and large-scale infrastructure projects across healthcare, long-term care, education, government, laboratories, pharmaceutical facilities, sports and recreation, hospitality, retail, commercial, and industrial sectors.
What You Will Own- Lead the ongoing management, evaluation, and improvement of the company's COR-certified health and safety program
- Establish consistent safety expectations across projects, supervisors, employees, and subcontractors
- Partner with project and site leadership to identify operational risks and implement effective hazard controls
- Oversee construction-site inspections, audits, corrective actions, and compliance follow-up
- Ensure required health and safety boards, plans, procedures, and documentation are established for new projects
- Lead or oversee investigations involving incidents, injuries, property damage, and near-misses
- Identify root causes, establish corrective actions, and communicate lessons learned across the organization
- Direct worker, supervisor, and subcontractor safety orientation, training, coaching, and competency initiatives
- Lead the development and review of site-specific health and safety plans for mechanical construction activities
- Ensure construction operations comply with Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable construction regulations, WSIB requirements, client standards, and company policies
- Track safety performance, identify trends, and present actionable recommendations to company leadership
- Maintain organizational qualifications and safety information within ISNetworld, Avetta, and other third-party compliance platforms
- Represent the company during client meetings, audits, project reviews, and external safety discussions
- Maintain the confidentiality of employee, financial, and organizational information
- Promote a visible, accountable, and prevention-focused safety culture throughout the business
Required Qualifications- Active Canadian Registered Safety Professional, CRSP, designation
- Direct health and safety experience within mechanical construction
- Demonstrated experience leading construction health and safety programs
- Strong knowledge of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable construction regulations
- Experience managing or providing senior oversight for a COR-certified safety program
- Demonstrated expertise in incident investigation, risk assessment, auditing, corrective-action management, and regulatory compliance
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management capabilities
- Ability to influence safety performance across employees, subcontractors, supervisors, project managers, clients, and senior leadership
Applicants without both a CRSP designation and relevant mechanical construction safety experience will not meet the minimum requirements for this position.
